The Lives Lost

"The Lives Lost" is inspired by the Washington Post's special edition 12-page publication of the same name, in which they listed all the names of those killed in mass shootings from the past 54 years. When I first saw the staggering list, I immediately thought of the impact of seeing all the names en masse. In the VR version of "The Lives Lost", I sought to recreate that feeling on a larger scale, by creating a virtual graphic environment in which the user can simultaneously visualize and be overwhelmed by that data, and in this process see the tragedy in a more impactful way. Through this project, my aim was not just to create a VR environment but to explore potential uses of VR as ways to affect and educate users.
